The PennHIP method allows veterinarians to assess canine hips and measure joint laxity in your dog. This evaluation is the most accurate way to measure and predict the risk of osteoarthritis.
Osteoarthritis is also referred to as degenerative joint disease, which is a key indicator of canine hip dysplasia; a painful condition that may impact a dogs mobility and quality of life over time.
PennHIP is a radiographic technique that is performed by certified veterinarians who are trained in this specialised technique. Radiographs are taken and sent to a PennHIP analysis centre for evaluation are are stored in a worldwide database which works to inform the scientific knowledge base on canine hip dysplasia.

Surgical correction may involve widening of the stenotic nares, shortening of the elongated soft palate, removal of everted laryngeal saccules and enlarged, tonsils if required.
Early intervention is strongly recommended. The outcome is usually excellent in younger animals. They generally breathe much more easily and with reduced respiratory distress. Activity levels often improve.
